Il Ballo del Doge: Rebirth 25th Celebration

Rebirth and Celebration, Time and The Pleasures of Life. The quiet calm of a recurrence and the convergence of important goals that represent a new beginning: these are the hints and tints of Il Ballo del Doge 2018, which will take place on Saturday February 10th, 2018, at Palazzo Pisani Moretta, in the splendid city of Venice.

The world’s most famous International Carnival Gala turns 25 years old and, on the very same evening of this important anniversary at the stroke of midnight, its creator Antonia Sautter will celebrate her own birthday in the spirit of her own words “Goals are never finishing lines, but steps towards a new adventure”.

“Rebirth & Celebration”, the title of the 25th edition, will unfold itself as usual over three floors of the historical Venetian Palace overlooking the Grand Canal; a paragon of excellence.

On the Ground Floor: Rebirth in tune and unison with the breath of Mother Nature, still generous with us despite the offenses of modernity. A spur to hug our true-selves with a light touch, thus making our achieved awareness a thing of great splendour.
On the First Floor: fleeting Time, the only one of life’s luxuries we’d all like to stop; the Time to love, rejoice, travel, experiment and fulfil desires; the Time to celebrate beauty as tamed existence.
On the Second Floor: Pleasure as the universal engine and supreme delight of every instant; Pleasure as passion and creativity, as the fullest awareness of the ephemeral; Pleasure as beauty and freedom. Rebirth can only be perceived in a life lived through five senses and an alleged transgression which guides us back to our thrilling instincts.

Il Ballo del Doge is the masquerade ball par excellence: it is listed as one of the 10 most extraordinarily glamourous events in the world and among the 100 experiences to be sought in your lifetime. Critics have unanimously defined it as “The most sumptuous, refined and exclusive ball in the world”.

Every guest, wearing one of the over 1.500 costumes designed by Antonia Sautter and entirely made by hand in her Atelier in Venice, will take part in a contemporary retelling of
the sumptuous aristocratic banquets of the 18th century, tasting refined dishes by starred Chef Luca Marchini, who conceived the menu inspired by the theme of the event, giving importance to the sensorial experience that food offers along with the palatal emotions. These will be accompanied by the unmistakable perlage of the Champagne Vranken-Pommery that will illuminate the toasts of all the attendees in the magical atmosphere of Carnival.

An extraordinary cake to celebrate the 25 years of the Ball and the birthday of its inventor and creator Antonia Sautter will be designed by the greatest exponent of Italian cake design, Renato Ardovino, invested by Italian newspaper La Repubblica with the title of “king of cakes” and one of the new faces of Real Time Channel with his TV shows Torte in Corso con Renato and My Cake Design.

Antonia Sautter will stage a new dream overflowing with set-up designs with great scenic impact, original soundtracks chosen specifically to accompany the acts, lights and special effects to create an unrepeatable atmosphere in the ambiances and the persistent and extraordinary performances of over 100 artists under her direction and who will be immortalised by the mirrorless photographic cameras of Olympus.

Innovative cocktails inspired by the themes of Il Ballo del Doge will make Absolut Elyx, The Glenlivet18 and Plymouth the accomplices of this extraordinary XXV edition. For a dream that will last the entire night.
