Here we are gain, the harvest has begun and the sun is shining and it’s only 41 more days to EWBC (The European Wine Bloggers Conference) which will take place in Brescia in the heart of the lovely Franciacorta area of Lombardy. This beautiful corner of the world is where the Chardonnay grapes give us the delicious nectar known as Franciacorta Spumante, with its elegant fine bubbles and pale gold glint. Anyone who ignores this event does so at his or her peril, just know that Gabrialla and Ryan Opaz and their associate Robert MacIntosh have been doing and organizing this event for the last several years with huge success. They strive to bring together the best and brightest from the international wine scene, bloggers, journalists, wineries, film directors and web innovators. It will be a great opportunity for wineries to learn about social media techniques, a networking megathon for bloggers and a chance for local and international social media strategists and consultants to come and present their companies and work while putting their best foot forward to a curious and interested audience.
Last year the romantic and charming capital of Austria was chosen, this year it’s Brescia in Northern Italy…so I say let the games begin 🙂
It’s all the talk these days online and in traditional media , so much buzz, but there’s always room for more..
More what you may ask? Well more about wine and web, good wine and good web content creation and distribution. We all know that to make good wine you need experience and a deep knowledge of the terroir. It is also true that it is necessary and unavoidable that to promote wine in an effective and successful way we must adhere to and use well known methods and best practices of online communication. We must engage the consumer, educate them about the product share with the consumer the stories about the wineries, the producers, the people and families behind these wineries and most of all narrate and share the land and territory here the wines are from. Given the fierce competitiveness of global wine sales one would think that using social media in the best way possible would be an obvious choice, well, it is still not diffuse here and many producers still want and need more information and education about these powerful communication tools. This in essence is one of the man things this conference will be about.. The participants will be many wineries (the list is provided here below) myself and many bloggers and first rate social media consultants from all over the world, 32 countries to be exact. At the risk of using a well-worn cliché the best and the brightest will be there to work with you, advise you, tell their story and help you tell yours .
Please look here for all the details about the conference. The wine producers, consortiums and associations listed here will have their wines available for tasting Saturday October 15th in the afternoon. Saveli an important Italian online wine retailer will also be participating in the conference and the tasting. They will bring and have available for tasting their carefully edited wine list. The wines they offer to their customers are elegant and great care is taken in the selection of the wines. Saturday afternoon it will be possible during the tasting to travel from northern Italy to the south. For all the participants in this tasting tour there will also be a “Web 2.0” surprise, for more information you’ll just have to wait and see. The only hint I can give you is to just come armed with your smartphone!
